Best Online Exam Software for Coaching Institutes in India (2026)

By Pooja Goenka · Published 2026-08-18 · Updated 2026-10-20

The best online exam software for a coaching institute in India depends on what you test: Testpress for objective test series with per-section analytics, Eklavvya for high-stakes exams where integrity is the whole point, ParikshaDesk for exams, students and fees in one dashboard, and LogicWiz Exams for a mix of formats such as coding, handwritten and written answers with certificates anyone can verify. ConductExam suits institutes that want branded mobile apps, and Think Exam suits organisations running academic and corporate tests on one platform.

A disclosure, because it changes how you should read this: we build one of the six products below. LogicWiz Exams is ours. We've put it where we think it honestly belongs rather than at the top, and we've written plainly about the cases where one of the others is the better choice. Judge the list on whether it helps you decide.

Most "best exam software" lists give each product a paragraph of marketing copy and a star rating from nowhere. I've organised this one around the five questions that decide which platform fits a coaching institute. The stakes are real, since the wrong tool can mean a batch of students locked out of a test on results day. Every vendor detail below was checked again against its own pages on 14 October 2026, and each name links to the page I read.

What should a coaching institute look for in online exam software?

1. Whose brand does the student see? White-labelling is the single biggest divider. Some platforms put your logo on the exam and the certificate; others put theirs. If you're building an institute brand (and charging for it), a vendor's name on your test paper undercuts you every time a student sits down.

2. What kinds of assessment do you actually run? Look at what you really run in a typical month. Pure MCQ is the easy case and every platform handles it. Coding tests, handwritten maths uploaded from a phone, and long answers graded against a rubric are harder. Several vendors list some of these, so ask to see each one working inside a real exam. A name on a features page tells you very little.

3. Do you need proctoring, and what kind? "Proctoring" covers everything from tab-switch detection to AI-analysed webcam feeds to a live human invigilator. High-stakes entrance tests need more than a weekly practice quiz does. If you mostly run internal mocks, paying for the heavy version is wasted budget.

4. Does it have to talk to your other systems? If you run a CRM, an LMS, or a fee-collection tool, ask about webhooks and APIs on the first call. Retrofitting integration is where "we'll figure it out later" turns into manual CSV exports every Friday for two years.

5. Who administers it day to day? Some platforms assume an operations person who enjoys configuration. Others assume the owner does everything between classes. Neither is more sophisticated than the other. They are designed for different people, and if you pick the one that doesn't match who will run it, the software ends up unused.

Which online exam platforms suit Indian coaching institutes?

Testpress

A test platform built for coaching institutes. Its features page lists bulk question upload from Word, a wide set of question types (single and multiple choice, numeric, match, gap fill, essay, file upload and audio response), and analytics broken down by section and subject. It offers webcam proctoring, with a separate AI-proctoring product, and certificates. A January 2026 post on its blog describes your own logo, brand colours and domain. Its address is now testpress.tech.

Best for: institutes running regular test series, especially competitive-exam prep, where per-section and per-subject analytics matter to students and parents.

ConductExam

Positions on security and branding. Its mobile app page offers white-labelling of your Android and iOS apps. Its FAQ lists question types including MCQ, multiple-answer, fill in the blanks, true or false, essay and matching, and its proctoring page describes automatic image capture, live proctoring and a screen lock. Official pricing is not published; the FAQ says it depends on tests, questions, users and duration. Techjockey, a third-party listing, showed plans from ₹1,700 a month excluding GST for 100 users, and all three plans it lists say no white-labelling, so ask ConductExam directly what the branded apps cost.

Best for: institutes that want branded apps and a security story to tell parents, and will get a quote that includes the branding.

Eklavvya

Strong on proctoring: AI remote proctoring (face, behaviour and device checks), a lockdown browser, and both centre-based and remote invigilation. Its site also lists handwritten answers with on-screen marking, coding in 10+ languages, AI question creation, AI grading of descriptive answers, and an API with webhooks. Its pricing page prints a free plan of 25 exam credits (one credit per candidate attempt), with the Professional and Enterprise plans by quote and all plans billed annually.

Best for: high-stakes examinations where integrity is the primary requirement: entrance tests, certification exams, anything with a legal or admissions consequence.

Think Exam

A broad platform for institutes, enterprises and government bodies. Its Think Proctor product describes a secure browser that reports tab switching, webcam checks for multiple faces and face mismatch, automatic, hybrid or live human proctoring, and recordings of the session. Question types include MCQ and subjective, with coding as a separate product. Certificates and pricing were not stated on the pages we read.

Best for: organisations running both academic and corporate assessment on one platform.

ParikshaDesk

Built specifically around how a coaching institute operates rather than around exams alone: student management, performance tracking, and fee collection sit in the same dashboard as the tests. Its pricing page prints a free plan (50 students, 10 tests a month), Starter at ₹499 a month for 100 students and Growth at ₹1,499 a month. It lists auto-graded MCQ and a "secure exam mode"; certificates and detailed proctoring were not stated.

Best for: small and mid-size coaching institutes that want exams as one part of running the business, not a separate system to administer.

LogicWiz Exams

Ours. Four answer formats inside a single exam: multiple choice marked on submit, typed written answers where AI suggests a mark against your rubric with its reasons and a teacher decides, typed coding answers that a teacher reviews and marks, and handwritten work photographed with a phone by scanning a QR code, which a teacher marks (the handwritten workflow, step by step). Questions can be imported from Excel or pulled from a ready-made aptitude library, and a whole class list can be invited at once. A results page shows the pass rate, the score spread and how each question performed, with an export to Excel. It also has optional on-device camera proctoring, full-screen and tab-switch limits, and batch and faculty management. Every certificate carries a certificate number, a QR code and a public verify link, and downloads as a PDF with the institute's name and logo, so a recruiter can confirm it without an account.

Best for: institutes running a genuine mix of assessment types, particularly anyone teaching coding alongside theory, who want verifiable certificates that hold up outside their own website. Companies running skills assessments or certification fit the same description.

Not for you if: you need a full LMS with video hosting and course sales. Exams is an assessment and certification surface, not a content platform. If you run purely objective test series at high volume and nothing else, Testpress covers that ground with more years behind it. And if statutory university examination with formal invigilation rules is your requirement, talk to Eklavvya first.

Other platforms worth knowing

These came up when we searched again in October 2026. Each line repeats only what the vendor's own site says, so treat it as a starting point for your shortlist. If you are deciding by institute size rather than features, our alternatives guide for online test platforms sorts them that way.

  • Mercer | Mettl names SecureProctor, a secure browser and an AI proctoring suite, and works with hiring teams and educational institutions. Pricing is by quote.
  • TCS iON describes three proctoring modes: self-proctoring, machine proctoring, and dual proctoring that adds a human to the machine checks. Pricing is by quote.
  • Edmingle is a course platform with assessments and certificates. Its pricing page says custom domains start on the Core plan and a 7-day free trial is available.
  • BlinkExam lists MCQ, subjective and coding questions, AI remote proctoring, and a 7-day free trial with no card.
  • Qwiktest runs MCQ tests, with a free plan. AI-drafted questions that the owner approves and a custom domain start on its paid Starter plan.
  • Just Exam targets coaching institutes with maths equation support and bulk import from Excel and Word. Its homepage and pricing page quote different prices, so confirm before you budget.
  • ExamOnline lists remote proctoring (live, AI or hybrid), centre-based testing and automatic certificates for certification exams.
  • Classplus and Teachmint include tests inside broader coaching and school apps rather than as a stand-alone exam product.

Checked on 14 October 2026 against each vendor's own pages.

What should you check on an exam software demo?

Ask what the student sees, and get a screenshot of the actual exam screen and the actual certificate rather than the admin dashboard. That screenshot is how you check a white-labelling claim.

Ask what happens when a student's connection drops mid-exam. Every vendor has an answer, and the good ones give a specific one involving auto-save intervals and resume windows. This is the failure that brings angry calls from parents.

Ask how you get your data out, meaning question banks, results and student records. If the answer is vague, you are choosing a platform you cannot leave, which weakens your position in later price negotiations with them.

Common questions

Can I run a fully white-labelled entrance exam and internal practice quizzes on the same platform?

Usually, but check whether proctoring is priced per exam or per plan tier. Eklavvya, for example, lists advanced proctoring on its Enterprise plan. Paying for full proctoring on quizzes that don't need it is an easy overspend in this category.

Do students need to install anything to sit an exam?

For browser-based platforms, no. The exam runs in a normal browser. Lockdown-browser or invigilation-app requirements are more common with the heavier proctoring tiers. Confirm this on the demo, since it affects whether students need a specific device.

What happens if a student's device or connection fails mid-exam?

This varies by vendor and is worth asking directly (see "three things worth checking" above). As a baseline, look for auto-save at short intervals and a resume window, rather than a "contact support" answer.

Can I migrate my existing question bank into a new platform?

Most platforms support bulk import. Ask specifically about your current format: a "yes" that means "we accept CSV" is different from "we accept your existing Word documents with embedded images and equations."

Do I need separate certificates for different exam types, or one template?

Ask the vendor. The sites we read list certificate features (templates, your logo and colours, automatic issue after a pass) but do not all say whether one account can hold several certificate types linked to different exams. That is worth checking if a coding course and a foundational course need their own templates and branding.

What is white-label online exam software?

Software where the exam screen, the certificate and usually the web address carry your brand instead of the vendor's. The simplest check is to ask for a screenshot of what the student sees and a sample certificate before you commit.

Which online exam platform is best for a small coaching institute in India?

It depends on what you run. ParikshaDesk is built around running the institute, with exams, students and fees together. Testpress suits regular test series with per-section analytics. LogicWiz Exams suits tests that mix coding, handwritten and essay answers. Start with the five questions above and shortlist two.

Is there free online exam software for coaching institutes?

Some vendors print a free plan. On 14 October 2026, ParikshaDesk listed 50 students and 10 tests a month, Eklavvya listed 25 exam credits, and Qwiktest listed one live test with 50 sittings every 30 days. Free plans usually leave out branding and the heavier proctoring, so check what your exams need before you build a batch around one.

How do I reduce cheating in online tests?

Combine a paper that is hard to copy, browser controls such as full screen and a tab-switch limit, optional camera flags for high-stakes exams, and a person who reviews every flag. The details, including what each control misses, are in how to reduce cheating in online tests.

How can I check that an online exam certificate is genuine?

Look for a certificate with a unique ID and a public verify link that anyone can open without an account. LogicWiz certificates carry a certificate number, a QR code and a public verify link. More on how that works in how to make certificates verifiable, and the checks a recruiter can run are in how to check if a certificate is real. If you are also weighing the branding question, see how white-label exam platforms differ.
