Best AI Interview Platforms for Startups in India (2026)
By Pooja Goenka · Published 2026-08-18 · Updated 2026-10-14
The best AI interview platform for an Indian startup depends on which hiring bottleneck you have: Hirevire for screening volume, InCruiter when you lack senior interviewers, WeCP or HackerRank's new Chakra to test how candidates code, and LogicWiz Interviews for inconsistent bars and messy debriefs. HireVue and iMocha suit larger organisations with compliance needs or a defined skills framework.
A disclosure: we build one of the six platforms below. LogicWiz Interviews is ours. We have not put it first, and we have named the cases where one of the others is the better buy. Every vendor detail was checked again against its own pages on 14 October 2026.
Most comparisons in this category are a feature grid, which doesn't help much when every platform here can "do AI interviews" and each solves a different problem. Buy the wrong one and you'll automate a part of hiring that was working fine.
Which hiring bottleneck do you actually have?
Before looking at any product, work out which of these is true for you, because each one needs a different tool.
"We get 300 applications and can't screen them." That is a volume problem. You need async or AI-led screening at the top of the funnel, something that lets every applicant get a fair look without 40 hours of calls.
"We don't have enough senior engineers to interview." That's bandwidth, and software alone won't fix it. You need interview-as-a-service, actual humans who interview for you.
"Two candidates, two interviewers, two completely different bars." A consistency problem, which needs structured rubrics and a debrief process more than automation. It is the most common problem at 10 to 50 people and the least often correctly diagnosed.
"We need to hire in eight countries with audit trails." That's compliance. You need enterprise tooling, and you should expect enterprise pricing.
How much do AI interview platforms cost in India?
Few of these vendors publish rupee prices, so expect to ask. Many AI interview tools bill per assessment rather than per recruiter seat. One 2026 comparison by TheHireHub, itself a vendor in this space, estimates ₹500 to ₹1,500 per assessment for entry and volume screening, and ₹1,650 to ₹4,150 and up per interview for enterprise and heavily proctored tools. Treat those as rough estimates: HireVue and Talview do not publish rates, and neither did most of the platforms below when I checked.
At a seed-stage hiring pace, per-assessment pricing is usually kinder than per-seat. At campus-hiring volume per-seat often works out cheaper, so do that sum before the demo.
Which AI interview platforms should a startup consider?
HireVue
HireVue is the enterprise incumbent. Its science page says its models are reviewed for fairness before deployment and audited independently each year, and its compliance page lists GDPR, ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2. It does not publish prices; the pricing page asks you to request a demo.
It fits multinationals hiring at scale with legal and audit requirements. Under 200 people I would skip it, partly for the price and partly because the configuration assumes a dedicated talent-ops team you probably don't have.
Hirevire
Hirevire is a cost-effective async screener. It takes multi-format responses (video, audio, text, file uploads), and its own pages say candidates can respond without logging in, which removes a common reason people drop off. Pricing is published and starts from $39 a month billed yearly.
It suits small teams on a real budget whose only problem is top-of-funnel volume. It stops at screening, so it won't cover live interviews, coding evaluation, or a structured decision process afterwards.
WeCP
WeCP sells AI assessments, AI-led first-round interviews and live coding interviews with a shared IDE as one platform. It is built mainly for technical hiring, though it also covers soft skills and English.
Pick it if your hardest question is "can this person actually write code?" and you hire enough engineers to justify a dedicated technical-assessment tool.
InCruiter
InCruiter offers video interviewing, an AI interviewer called IncBot, and an interview-as-a-service panel of external interviewers who conduct rounds on your behalf.
That makes it the answer to the bandwidth problem. If your senior engineers are the constraint, nothing else on this list helps.
iMocha
iMocha comes from skills assessment, with an AI interviewer called Tara layered on, and is organised around a skills taxonomy and benchmarking, mapping roles to skills and measuring against them. It fits organisations that want to assess against a defined skills framework rather than a job description.
LogicWiz Interviews
This is ours, and we built it for the consistency problem rather than the volume one. Each round on a job is configured independently as human-led, AI-led, human-led with an inline AI assistant, or fully async AI video, so AI can take the funnel top and humans the rounds that need judgement. Live rounds run in-browser over WebRTC with configurable anti-cheat (tab-switch and multi-face detection, ID verification, violation thresholds).
The feature we'd point you to is the hiring debrief, which is designed against anchoring. Every evaluator submits their scorecard privately, and the side-by-side comparison unlocks only once everyone has submitted, with disagreements highlighted automatically, so the loudest voice in the room can't set the bar.
It is built for startups and small product teams whose interviews are ad-hoc calls with the rubric in someone's head, and who want structure and an audit trail without an enterprise rollout. For external interviewers go to InCruiter, for enterprise compliance HireVue, and for the cheapest possible async screener and nothing else, Hirevire.
New in October 2026: HackerRank Chakra
HackerRank's AI interviewer, Chakra, became generally available to its customers on 5 October 2026, according to TechCrunch, after about six months of beta. HackerRank's own page describes it as an agentic interviewer that sets the candidate a real-world problem in a workspace with an AI assistant, and HackerRank's explainer says it asks follow-up questions about the candidate's choices and scores CS fundamentals, AI fluency and judgement. The scoring post explains how each expectation is scored from the transcript. The product page offers a free trial and a demo, and no price is published.
It matters for this list because it tests something the others mostly don't: how a candidate works with an AI assistant on a realistic task. If that is the question you most need answered, look at it alongside WeCP. If you would rather run that kind of round yourself, AI fluency interview questions has question types and a rubric you can use with any tool.
Which platform fits which problem?
| Your bottleneck | Start with |
|---|---|
| Too many applicants, no time | Hirevire |
| Not enough senior interviewers | InCruiter |
| Inconsistent bars and messy debriefs | LogicWiz Interviews |
| Can they actually code? | WeCP |
| Can they work with an AI assistant on a real task? | HackerRank Chakra |
| Assessing against a skills framework | iMocha |
| Global scale with compliance | HireVue |

What should you ask on an AI interview platform demo?
"Show me what the candidate sees." Candidate experience determines completion rate, and with a clunky flow your best applicants, who have other offers, don't finish.
"What happens to the recording and the data?" Under India's DPDP Act you are the Data Fiduciary for candidate data, the Act's term for whoever decides why and how it is processed. Ask about retention periods, deletion, and whether a DPA is available, and treat a vague answer as a real risk.
"How does the AI score, and can we override it?" Any answer that isn't "the score is a suggestion your team can override, and here's the reasoning" should worry you, because you answer for the hiring decision and the vendor doesn't.
Common questions
Do I need to interview junior and senior engineers differently?
Yes, though that is a process question more than a platform one. Junior hires benefit more from structured technical assessment, and senior hires from a strong debrief process, because at that level panel disagreement usually causes more trouble than a skills gap.
Can candidates use these platforms without installing anything?
For the browser-based ones in this list, yes, interviews run in-browser. Heavier proctoring tiers sometimes require a lockdown browser or extension, so ask on the demo before you sign.
Is per-assessment or per-seat pricing better for a five-person startup?
Per-assessment, almost always. At low volume, per-seat licensing means paying for capacity you aren't using. The arithmetic only flips once you're screening at real scale.
How long does moving from ad-hoc interviews to a structured process actually take?
For the consistency problem specifically, a few days. You write the rubric per role, define round formats, and run the next hiring loop through it. There's no historical data to migrate, since you're changing the process from here on and leaving closed reqs alone.
What is HackerRank Chakra?
HackerRank's AI interviewer. The candidate works on a real-world problem with an AI assistant available, Chakra asks follow-up questions about their choices, and it scores CS fundamentals, AI fluency and judgement. TechCrunch reported it became generally available to HackerRank customers on 5 October 2026. HackerRank does not publish its price.
What should a scorecard for an AI-era interview include?
The usual competencies with written anchors, plus a row for how the candidate works with AI when the round allows it. Our technical interview scorecard template has a copyable version with an AI judgement row.
Does an AI-led round replace a human interviewer entirely?
Not necessarily. The pattern that works is AI-led or AI-assisted screening rounds, with humans leading where judgement matters most. Treat an AI score as evidence that a human decision-maker weighs.
